Social Media Analytics

Effective social media analytics

Social media isn’t just about collecting Facebook “likes” any more, says Danny Bradbury. The smart money is extracting intelligence from the network.

Six months ago, your company launched a new product. Last month, your sales dipped. Why? And how interested are people in your competitor’s new product? Don’t pay money for a focus group or a market survey that will deliver data three months from now. Listen to the social network instead. It’s 2013, and social business isn’t about collecting Facebook “likes” anymore. Welcome to the age of social media analytics.

Managing the mentions: how big brands survive social media nightmares

“Is this how you silence people on your page?” “I’m still waiting for a response or am I not considered a customer anymore?” “Does anyone actually READ the posts people make here?” “15 days, 3 emails and still no response.” “Worst service provider I have ever encountered.”

In between the latest product shots and carefully crafted status updates, you’ll find comments like these littering the social media pages of major brands. As their relationships with their customers have moved online, social media has become a platform for businesses to speak to thousands of people in under a minute — but it’s also become a space for queries and (very public) complaints from legions of social media users.

More car buyers use social media to find hot deals

More car buyers are using social media when it comes to picking out their new model and figuring out which dealer offer will be best, a new study finds.

About one out of four of the 2,000 car buyers surveyed say they consider online car review sites to be helpful in picking a place to buy a new vehicle, according to the Automotive Social Media and Reputation Trend Study released by a company called Digital Air Strike, which specializes in such research.
